My outfits from mid-2016. Summer seemed to last forever this year, so I didn't get to dress up much. If you follow me on Instagram, these will look familiar to you already.

I went to view the Doukyuusei movie when it was in theaters in May. The movie was based on a manga written and illustrated by Nakamura Asumiko whose illustrations are often featured in the Gothic & Lolita Bible. It was a very beautifully made animation adaptation. For this outfit, I focused on bringing asymmetric layers together. I wanted to wear something comfortable for sitting in a movie theater.  This is my favorite draping combination I've put together.

I wore this to volunteer at a local art festival. It was outdoors in the middle of summer: a terrible idea.

The Lock in Pandora's Memories one piece made it to my wishlist because I was rewatching an old BABY/PIRATES fashion show and loved they way it swayed while walking. I am a a big fan of high-low cuts though I'm not really much of a print person and could live without it. So AatP if you want to release a solid version of this dress...hello, I am here. Originally, I wanted the black x white version of this OP, but I settled for the black x black since it showed up on Lacemarket and realistically I would wear black x black more. Here I have it worn without the lower sleeves.

I had some friends come into town from Louisiana to watch the Kizumonogatari movie in theaters. I am unfamiliar with the Monogatari series, so I didn't go, but I did take them to a good ol' barbecue and ice cream dinner.

This was a casual outfit for Halloween. I finally got my hands on the Opera Millefuille OP! I remember when the first few years of me getting into lolita that everyone and their mom got this in a lucky pack and a lot of people were trying to get rid of it for $80-130, but that was too much for me at the time. Then all of these OPs disappeared for a few years and resurfaced recently for higher than I wanted to pay. I waited patiently enough and got both the white and black ones for good prices. The black one was in a Yahoo! auction as a set with arm warmers which I had only seen only once before. I don't remember ever seeing the arm warmers ever in stock photos, but I'll have to see once I reach that era of AatP for Lolibrary. I am more than ecstatic to have the arm warmers, but they don't stay up very well since you have to tie them on.

I reached my final form of black blob.

After a long while, an ouji coord appears. I was avoiding ouji for awhile because I actually just hate wearing blouses it turns out. Some of the older AatP pieces stopped fitting well on me, so I have to start letting go of some.
Vest: Alice and the Pirates Tourinot Vest
Blouse: Atelier Boz Basilisk Short Sleeve Blouse
Pants: Alice and the Pirates Rudolf Shorts
Socks: offbrand
Shoes: Bodyline

And here is the final outfit for today.
Vest: BLACK PEACE NOW
Blouse: Atelier Boz Andrew Over Blouse
Skirt: Sheglit Chiffon Asymmetrical Skirt
Socks: offbrand
Shoes: offbrand

Apparently, in this time period was a phase of looking away from the camera. During this period, you can clearly see my style moving away from strictly lolita and ouji towards just gothic style in general. Asymmetric layers have really taken a place in my closet and I just want more. I still have more outfits from last year to go through, so stay tuned.

2017 Goals

Jan 8, 2017

A new year is here! I spent 2016 transitioning things in real life and online, so I wasn't as active as I wanted to be in the general online community. I lost direction of where I wanted to take this blog, so I've been doing some thinking. These are things I would like to push myself to do this year.
  • Finish the Ouji Overview
I know, I've been saying this for years. To be honest, I'm very bored with ouji style now, but so many people have told me my incomplete guide helped them so much. I will start what I finished!
  • Reorganize the blog
For awhile, I tried out Wordpress, but I'll be sticking with blogger for now. WP did have some cool features such as a picture gallery, but their image hosting limit is what made me sway away from it. Right now, I have most of my old posts reverted to drafts, so I can see which ones I want to keep and which to delete.
  • Take more pictures
I need to level up my photography! I get nostalgic looking at old LJ posts because there were a lot more reports and picture sharing. Nowadays event reports and candid pictures are seldom shared, so I want to start contributing more content. I didn't take very many coordinate pictures of myself this year since I hit a brick wall in posing and styling. Part of the reason is no time, so my day is always rushed, but hopefully I get better at time management.
  • Utilize social media
Ever since EGL died (R.I.P. I still check LJ everyday), the lolita community became very decentralized. It's kind of a pain honestly. Between tons of facebook groups, tumblr blogs, and instagram, it can be difficult to keep up with current events. I'm going to try to get better at crossposting across platforms. I did start a facebook page and youtube channel last month, but I'm not sure what I want to do with either lol.
  • More personal
I think I've been feeling disconnected with my blog because originally I wanted it to just be an informational blog. I think I want to post some more personal content on here, so I won't get bored.
I don't have any wardrobe goals in specific this time around because I've reached a pretty good size and nothing is catching my interest lately. If anything, I need to sell some things I don't fit anymore.

Hopefully these goals will help me get back into blogging. I actually loathe writing, but it is a good outlet from the monotonous daily life. January is about 1/3 of the way over, and I still haven't started my annual wardrobe post, so I'm going to have to rush to finish it. I'll be posting it over on EGL and here this year, so wish me luck!
