An Ouji Overview: Part 3 Where to Buy

Jan 22, 2013

Please see the Where to Buy v2 post! I will no longer update this one.

This list will only be covering where to buy clothing

Brand
Japanese brands are the main producers of ouji-styled clothing and is usually the most expensive option. Brand name clothing is not a requirement to dress like a prince! By default, brand is listed as lady's sizes unless otherwise noted. The lady's size can sometimes be worn by males, so just check the measurements.

There are also smaller independent brands out there that are cheaper than brand and still provide nice quality clothing. You can often find prince-like clothing in many Gothic or punk types of stores.

If you want to buy from a Japanese store that does not offer international shipping, you need to use a shopping service or Japanese mail forwarding service. If you want to buy from a taobao shop that does not offer international shipping, you need to use a taobao shopping service. Always look up reviews before you decide on using a certain shopping service.

Offbrand
Clothing doesn't necessarily have to be bought online. Plenty of ouji material can be found in regular stores. Normal store clothing might not be as elaborate as online items, but you can easily make them more interesting by adding embellishments such as trims, lace, or ruffles. The most common pieces to find offbrand are blouses, legwear, shoes, and accessories. Some popular offbrand stores include Forever21 and H&M.

Sewing is another option. It's a handy skill saves money and your wardrobe will be very unique!

Where not to Buy
Absolutely do not buy from Milano0. Chances are if something is advertised as "cheap lolita" along with cosplay, zentai suits, and wedding dresses all in one site, it's them. They steal stock photos from other websites and advertise it as their own and fake many of their own reviews. The Better Business Bureau has given them an F ranking which is the lowest grade you can receive from the BBB. Buying from them is a gamble because they just use the cheapest tailors they can find. Yes, they do carry some taobao items, but it's cheaper to go through a shopping service and purchase from taobao. If you want to learn more, just search "why is milanoo bad." They have very many different storefronts, but most of them use the same layout, so they get easier to identify. Here is a list of identified storefronts you should avoid.

  2. Awesome! I really like the tables, very neat and clean.

If you'd consider buying from taobao I would vouch for http://www.chinabuy.com.au and they don't charge a service fee if you're in Australia.
